What Will You Build?
Since 1991, Benton Habitat for Humanity has been dedicated to constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes. We advocate for fair and just housing policies and provide training and access to resources to help families improve their housing conditions.
What We Do
In partnership with both community volunteers and partner families, we have built 30 single family homes within Benton County since 1991. We are very proud of this accomplishment, but know that we MUST INCREASE our capacity to increase our impact!
The Home Repair Initiative
Last year saw the creation of a new program, our Home Repair Initiative. This allows us to further our mission through repairs for a lower-income population that would not otherwise be able to afford them. Similar to our New Home program, these repairs are done through homeowner partnerships and zero interest loans to payback the cost of the materials.
Benton Habitat also recognizes housing challenges throughout the world, and therefore we have chosen to be a part of global housing relief efforts. Every month we tithe special funds to Habitat Honduras, where nearly two-thirds of the population lives in poverty.
Our new location on Philomath Boulevard in Corvallis has been a great success, and continues to be a wonderful example of building through community. This environmentally responsible store allows the community to donate construction materials, appliances and many other home necessities. The community can purchase these items at great discounted rates. 100% of the net proceeds from the ReStore fund Benton Habitat for Humanity’s efforts. Currently, of the two homes we build each year, one is funded by store sales alone! The ReStore has made a HUGE impact in our ability to serve both the community and partner families.
But…We NEED To Do More!
We can do more. We want to do more. But we need your help.
Decent, stable, affordable housing provides more than just a roof over someone’s head. Here are more reasons why your donation to Benton Habitat for Humanity is so valuable. Through decent, affordable housing, we create:
With a vacancy rate of 2.3%, families are forced to commute into our community to work here. This does not benefit our tax base, our quality of life, or our environment. According to the City of Corvallis, buildable land is in the shortest supply since 1977. All of this is unacceptable.
What will you do to help us build Benton County into a truly affordable community?
