Most people think of swinging a hammer when they think about volunteering for Habitat. Due to the tremendous amount of planning and management required to build just one home, we have a constant need for committee members and volunteers to help with various other tasks. Many of our younger volunteers (under the age of 16) and families volunteering together opt to help out with non-construction tasks.  You don't need to be an expert in any of these fields to help out! There are many tasks that require only a willingness to learn and work with others.

Listed below are some of the non-construction volunteer opportunities.

Committees

• Members for Committees —
  We have many committees and project teams which often need assistance or new committee members. Please visit our Committees page for more information about each of our committees

Office/Clerical/Teaching

• Education Coordinator —
  Coordinate the design and delivery of education classes on a variety of topics, for example home maintenance, composting, shed construction.
• Workshop Leaders —
  Also needed are volunteers with extensive knowledge in plumbing, electrical, heating/venting, etc. that would be willing to teach staff and perhaps conduct monthly workshops.
• Media, Newsletter, Press —
  For anyone interested in writing for the newsletter, issuing press releases, making contact with local media, etc. No experience necessary - just enthusiasm! Contact the Volunteer Coordinator if you're a candidate.
• Office Assistance —
  We are always looking for folks to assist in mailings, answering the phone, and other general office activities.
• Public Relations —
  Organizes publicity, publications and newsletters.

Benton Habitat for Humanity ReStore

• ReStore - Donations vehicle driver —
  The ReStore needs volunteers to drive our donations pick-up vehicle one or two days a week usually for 2-4 hours. Sometimes you will need to assist in loading donated materials into the donations vehicle, so the ability to safely manuever 50 lbs is desired.
• ReStore - In-store volunteers —
  We  always welcome volunteers to work in the store. We are currently looking for store help every afternoon from 2 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Check the Benton Habitat for Humanity ReStore pages on this site for more information.

Construction site

• Site Host —
  Liaison between volunteers and BHfH at construction site on Sats., orients volunteers to site, handles paperwork, housekeeping chores, helps with lunch/break set up, takes photos at site.
