Orientation workshops are held annually, when we begin preparation to build the next homes. You must attend one of these orientation workshops in order to apply for a home. Application forms are only available at these orientation workshops.

Family Selection for the 2013-2014 homes is now complete and we are not currently accepting applications.

Orientation workshops will be held later this year, to start the family selection process for 2014-2015 homes. If you would like to be notified when the next family selection process starts, complete the online interest form or contact us.

The Family Selection Process

Applications are reviewed according to 3 criteria:

Financial Status —
Criteria mandates that the family must be able to afford the housing and have proper financial stability to maintain payments. Habitat families fall within the 25–60% range of HUD median income levels for Benton County, Oregon. (See chart below.) Applicants must verify the percentage of their monthly income currently spent on housing. Applicants are required to openly and fully discuss their financial situation with Habitat personnel.

Willingness to Partner —
We look for families who will make good partners. Families who are timely in the application process, willing to take home ownership and financial fitness classes, honor their repayment contracts, accept the requirements for sweat equity and down payments and strive to create healthy families, be good neighbors and help create a healthy community.

Residency —
Applicants must confirm Benton County residency of at least 1 year and verify citizenship or permanent residency through documentation.
