At Habitat for Humanity we build more than just houses.
We build community, friendships, work experience, and hope for our partner families.
Home Construction
Habitat welcomes volunteers from all walks of life to join together with our partner families to complete the actual building of affordable homes. Volunteer labor and donations of goods and services keep the building costs low. Our volunteers find satisfaction in doing something good for the community, where they have the opportunity to see the fruits of their labor. We often hear about what great friendships are made through working as a team on the site. And one cannot underestimate the rewards of a hard day's work.
Donations
Even with unlimited volunteers, a home could not be built without financial support. Benton Habitat for Humanity relies on local church, civic group, business, and individual contributions to buy the supplies needed. For twenty years generous members of our community have dedicated to building hope through housing. Donors can give goods, in-kind gifts as well as cash contributions.
Partner Families
Habitat believes in giving "a hand up, not a hand out" which is why our families are partners in executing our work. Families contribute 500 hours of "sweat equity" on the construction site of their house, of other partner families, and in other support work. They also pay back the construction costs in a 20-30 year interest free mortgage.
